Justin Kyle Marshall, 34, of Greencastle, shot Tristen Shifflet, 37, in the neck on South Burhans Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. in Hagerstown, local police said. Shifflet was rushed to Meritus Medical Center, where she died.
Marshall fled to Berkeley County WV, and was arrest around 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 26, by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department. He had an active arrest warrant through Pennsylvania State Police for assault in a separate incident involving Shifflet.
Marshall had also been convicted of 2nd degree murder in 2004 in a Hagerstown homicide (non domestic related). He had been out of prison for approximately 2 years.
The couple's young child was taken into custody by Washington County Child Protective Services.
Marshall was charged with first-degree murder and multiple other related offenses.
One of Shifflet's final posts on Facebook urged others not to take anything for granted, especially time.
